GW’s bedrock of scholarship and learning
The George Washington University Libraries and Academic Innovation (LAI) is the bedrock of scholarship and learning at GW. Underpinning all aspects of the academic experience, our work is the foundation of integrated teaching, learning, and research throughout the university.
A nimble, data-driven organization, we connect scholars with the tools, resources, and knowledge to generate transformative research and deepen student academic engagement, regardless of educational modality. LAI nurtures scholars throughout the spectrum of the academic experience, from formative undergraduate experiences through the pursuit of advanced research and teaching. We anchor the university in its mission to provide a unique, rigorous education to every student and become one of the nation’s premier research universities.
Through tools, spaces, consultation, and collaboration, LAI helps the GW community explore, create, and discover information in new ways. Our four pillars of strength are:
We promote and support teaching, learning, and research by providing faculty with collaborative opportunities and personalized consultation to support their ongoing professional development.
We maintain the scaffolding needed to support research and learning, guiding students in crafting research questions and collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data.
Access to resources
We ensure effortless access to scholarly resources in the face of constantly evolving technology, providing connection to academic resources and learning through online and other delivery methods.
We create incubator environments that bring diverse groups together to explore, discover, and create knowledge in new ways through the design and support of physical and virtual learning spaces.
