Resource Description Group

The Resource Description Group is responsible for acquiring and preserving GW Library's collection, supporting the GW community in research, teaching and learning. The team actively keeps pace with shifting library priorities and evolving standards.

Major duties of the Resource Description team:

  • Encode descriptions and classifications for public display.
  • Describe and provide access at various levels to serials (excluding periodicals) and monographic content (textual format, visual, sound, streaming, cartographic, etc.)
  • Create MAchine-Readable Cataloging (MARC) and non-MARC catalog records.
  • Perform data analysis and correction to ensure records are accurate, indexable, and searchable.
