Research and User Services

The Research and User Services team is responsible for providing high quality research support and research and information literacy instruction to all members of the GW community as well as providing leadership in collection development and strategy. We strive to serve users where they are and when they need us.

Major duties of the Research and User Services team:

  • Provide in-depth, one-on-one research consultations with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Develop and maintain online research guides and learning objects for a variety of subjects, courses, and tools.
  • Partner with the University Writing and Honors programs to teach first-year students information literacy skills and how to conduct scholarly research.
  • Partner with the English for Academic Purposes program to teach new international students information literacy skills and how to conduct scholarly research
  • Provide tailored research instruction for courses upon request.
  • Support faculty and students with their data identification and management needs.
  • Oversee and coordinate GWLAI’s workshop series.
  • Oversee and coordinate GWLAI’s statistical consulting service.
  • Provide virtual research assistance through chat and email.
  • Develop and curate the library’s collection of print and electronic resources to best meet the needs of users.
